These tricks don't work these days.  Well, ethically speaking, they shouldn't, lol.   

One of them is "exact match domains".  Basically, you get a domain name which matches the term you are searching for.   For instance, you are targeting "Used Cars in Idaho" so you register UsedCarsInIdaho.biz.

Another trick is making a Digg (the media platform) with an article linking to your site.  First, the Digg would go to the top of Google (in some cases) and next your link would be on the front page.

I just make my domain on topic and with the subject matter and if you did that there wouldn't be much of an issue at all. The domains are bound to be perfect for what you need if that was the case.

Domains should match a certain high keyword + Geo or brandable. That's why a domainer or a webmaster who wants to register a domain, is expected to make deep researches in order to find the right domain to match with his or her website, in order to get better search results.

Yes, you are correct; there is no quick way to get SEO rankings and results. Is a continuous procedure with continual labor towards a result.

There are some strategies that are believed to make your website appear on searches pretty fast, interestingly most of these strategies are considered black hat and are strictly prohibited.
