This game was such a huge and important part of my childhood. I played this whenever I visited my best friend and I have so many good memories with it! What about you guys?

RE: Donkey Kong Country

Nothing to say. One of the best platformers ever made. Fun challenge and top music. I loved everything.. even the Game Over music.

My favorite will be part 3.

Gangplank music rocks!

This game will always be a favorite. I think the theme of 1 or 2 would be my favorite track.

RE: Donkey Kong Country

When i was driving back home i thought about the intros of the series and back then all we had was that noisy 8-bit sounds in both Sega Megadrives and old DOS system games and came to mind that it was the age when videogame music started to sound like real music

Yeah the 16 bit and 32 bit eras had kickass music. Just look at Doom!

In Sega systems the music was horrible compared to the Super Nintendo. Specially noted in Doom.

I remember back in the day when PS1 was already out and also Sega Saturn was on display in Japan already (maybe i'm remembering this wrong) but no one new what was going on with Nintendo 64, then these games showed up and whoa! we didn't care about 3d rendering stuff at all!

Yeah the look of the game was mind blowing for its time! It helps that they they actually used 3D models for the characters.

Indeed, the turn of the characters was so smooth, the 3d games from that era weren't even close to the depths, Sonic was also that way but its music ruined the whole thing for me.

I hope they plan to keep its look the same when it hits switch.
Edit: You didn't like the music from the sonic games?

The tune was good but how it sounded was horrible. At least for a 16-bit videogame system.

Oh yeah because Genesis. I thought it was "unique" and grittier more than BAD sounding.

Genesis had its own thing but compared to the SNES it was crap and it kinda makes sense because the superNES came out later.

True there is a good 2 year difference in hardware and I guess it really shows.

If you follow the AVGN he says that Sega made some "upgrades" for their Genesis and made it 32x and then the CD 32x instead of just releasing the Sega Saturn. They experimented with the CD games and thought it was a good idea but the components weren't good enough yet. In various CDs the developers filled it with secret emulators from older game systems, they had to justify the bigger size games with something :p
