24 hour time versus 12 hour time.

I have absolutely no idea why people still use 12 hour time. Most companies you work with, including fast food such as McDonalds operate in 24 hour time, so why is it that the rest of the US still uses the 12 hour system. I think it's absolutely insane, and so annoying. "Hey can you pick me up at 9?" am or pm? versus, "hey man, mind picking me up at 2100" Yup, no problem. There's no need for confirmation, confusion or anything else. It's extremely easy to understand, and doesn't make any since why we use it.

What's your thoughts on 12 hour time and 24 hour time?

24 hour time is far superior. Though, I've only been using it since last year. From what I heard. the British use 24 hour time but say 12 hour time, which is interesting.

I've grown up on the 12 our time setup, so I couldn't imagine trying to adjust to the 24 hour time viewing.

12-hour just looks and feels weird to me now..

I did this, on this date, at 3:30 vs. I did this, on this date, at 15:30

The 24-hour system is just straight to the point, and there's no confusion.

It's really easy to understand. My thought process is different than most. But essentially just add 12 to everything past 12. I simplify it by just doing +2 to whatever the 12 hour time is. If it's 3pm, 3 + 2 = 5. Then just add a 1 before that. 1500. 8pm 8 + 2 = 10, then just add the 1 to the beginning so it's 2000. It's literally just adding 12, I just do things differently I guess lol.

Same but then I tried 24 hour time for 4-5 months, then went back to 12. As of last October, I went back to 24 and never looked back.

I think it depends on where you grow up & what you become accustomed to. I grew up with 12 hour time. I rather say 2pm than 1400 hours.

I heard the U.K. (Or just England) use 24 hour time but convert it to 12 hour time. So they'll have a clock that says it's 1530 and look at it and say, "ok it's 3:30pm"

I find 24 hour time format better than 12 hour. Because we don't need to write am or pm while writing time. It is also quick and easier to set alarms in 24 hour format once you get a knack of it.

RE: 24 hour time versus 12 hour time.

24 hour system suits well all the time. There will be absolutely no confusion as pointed out. It also avoids the use of suffix which many are not comfortable with or even remember them. This system is more prevalent in official use, especially so in transportation schedules, meetings, appointments etc. I know of a few friends who have missed their flights due to the confusion even though tickets specifically mentions the flight time in 24 hour format. Maybe because I believe our mind is still programmed to 12 hour format. There are many who still use 12 hour format in their casual communications and not all use a.m./ p.m for better clarity. It then depends on us to confirm and avoid confusion. So I believe both the system are here to stay and it's your choice which you should prefer.

Well, I personally know and observe the 12 hour format. While I understand using a 24 hour clock, I don't care to use it constantly. I also had family that served in the military, so if someone talks about a time beyond 12 in a 24 hour period, I can figure it out pretty quickly.

Ever since I knew how to read time, it's been me and 12 hours time format. Seriously, if I'm being very honest with you, I don't really know how to make use of 24 hours time format. Like say 22:00, I sometimes mistake it as 9pm instead of 10pm.

I don't really care about any of them because I'm very familiar with both 12 hours and 24 hours time set up. Either of them works perfectly for me.

The only way that I'm getting used to the 24 hours time format is by using it as my lock screen image for my smartphone side by side with the 12 hours format.

So, even if it gets confusing for me, the 12 hours format is there to help me out immediately.

That's one of the best ways to make yourself get used to learning 24 hours format when it comes to checking time.

I play online games that sets up with time and I get to see 24 hours format always.

If it's 12 hours format that's most used in your location, who ever gives you an appointment will definitely include whether it's an AM or PM appointment.

The most important thing is that you can still very well understand exactly what's going on with the time.

I have know 12 hours format all my life. Even the 24 hours format wasn't stressed that much in my school when I was still a teenager.

I like the 24 hour time as it makes things very okay for all of us. I don't understand the reason people use the 12 hour time and think everything work that way.

12 hours time format is more easy to use. If 24 hours time format isn't something you're used to, 12 hours will make it very easy for you.
