When it comes to finance, does anyone work with percentages?

When it comes to finance, does anyone work with percentages?

EX:

• Emergency Fund = 20%
   
  
• Bills = 60%
   
  
• Do whatever you want = 10%
   
  
• Save = 10%
   
  

I am starting to do something like this, percentages, adjusted.

I'm not good at math but my husband is. I do balance the checkbook. When we had looked at our budget, I would write down what it was i.e. Monthly Bills, Food, etc & go high on what we pay a month. That to me was easier than working with percentages. How is this plan working out for you?

I don't. I'm very poor with my finances to be honest so I don't even budget them. I have a mental note of what I need to pay, and how much that costs. Then I spend the rest :censored: it's a very bad habit that I found out my soon to be fiancé has the same issue with lol. Though we still know how to budget when need be. For example buying a house.

Financing with percentages seems a bit overkill, but whatever works I guess!

I pay my bills, put some money in to my savings each month, and the rest is to do with as I please.. It can't be all work and no play!

Of course yes, I have a budget percentage on how I spend me money resources so that I can have a balance in everything and not mess everything up.
