What is your preferred email host?

RE: What is your preferred email host?

My preferred email host has been Yahoo for some time. Gmail is a good email to use but it's too complicated for me to appreciate it like some people do. There's 3 sections including one for promotions and what-not. Yahoos seems to be clean cut with only one inbox area and it's easy to setup on your phone. I've stuck with them for some time.

Outlook (which used to be called Hotmail)... I still have my @live.co.uk one that a lot of people have not heard of, surprisingly. I also have my hotmail accounts which I think they are still allowing registrations for but Outlook is the one. Gmail is next.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

Been with gmail since 04'.

I can't remember how i was invited to sign up, it was a closed beta version back then.

One thing I love about ProtonMail is that you have a "display name" unlike Gmail.

I kinda hate outlook but I miss hotmail.

I once read something about GMail early days, it was interesting.

I just created a Yahoo account. I hope I do not regret this! :)

When I signed up for gmail almost 2 decades ago it was also in the closed beta stage. So I'm right there with you as for going back that far. I still prefer yahoo as it's simpler as I said above.

So looking at Yahoo, it is kinda like Bing, not as good as Google's Gmail. I like Yahoo's disposable email system.

i just got used to gmail, maybe i could switch to a better one soon.

I have no clue how to use icloud email address stand alone since it's tied to Apple. I should probably look into it.

Yeah I totally hate the design too.. I preferred the Hotmail days due to the design being much more simpler.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

I agree that Gmail can be a bit more fiddly than traditional email providers, though I've kinda got used to it.

I too was an original beta invitee (I'm pretty sure almost anyone who wanted a code was able to get one before it went public).

I like Yahoo's disposable email system.
That can kinda be done with Gmail - http://[email protected] for example will send to http://[email protected] - and if you no longer want to receive emails sent to nerdface+1 you can basically block them..

Oh, I didn't know that. I know Gmail omits the period sign (.), so it doesn't matter if you include it or not.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

I use the basic prontonmail.com option and Gmail.
^protonmail.com, mail.com, and gmail.com for me.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

I only use Gmail but before that, I used hotmail until it changed to outlook.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

I have emaila ccounts for yahoo, hotmail and gmail providers so I check them usinga third party from my phone. In general I prefer Gmail because of the filter options and how being Google you can synchronize easily to the phone and other devices. I think the multi inbox could be useful but I find it a bit too much, I think it is optional anyay, so I guess it is just about fiddling with the settings to turn off the smart sorting.

Outlook seems to want to force things on me, like using Skype, so I am not as keen on it.

Yahoo I rarely check it on desktop nowadays but I am glad they didn't stay behind. It seems to load and work well.

Gmail and google are spooky because it records your voice and what you type on chats like hangouts or whatsapp to offer you ads about it..

Yeah. I have heard some instances of adverts changing to whatever they are discussing. I've seen it outside of google too. Twitter adverts seem to be about stuff I have been browsing about.

Pretty close to Orwell's 1984 book huh?

I miss hotmail's MSN so much i could cry :(

RE: What is your preferred email host?

For the past 7 years of so I've primarily been using Gmail for my email and the reason is that I don't get as much spam as I did on other email sites. Yahoo was my main account for over a decade prior to my switch but the spam was getting to be too outrageous and forget about hotmail because that's all that seemed to come through was spam.

Now that I have a Google phone it's easier to remain with Gmail too and use the perks such as accessing my phone's photos when I'm on my laptop with ease.

RE: What is your preferred email host?

I honestly prefer Roundcube from cPanel though my own personal domains. I don't like google because of how they structure everything and they forced you to make a gmail account years ago which kind of stained their product for me. I no longer like Yahoo because they make you wait 15 seconds because you have adblocker on, and any others just seem sketchy to me. So I personally stick with my own personalized webmail.
