What Antivirus/Spyware Remover Do You Use?

I personally use Windows Defender only at current. I was using Macafee that came with my laptop though the trial expired.

Windows defender didn't used to be as good as it is now. Has improved and worth trying.

A good spyware remover if your computer is running slow, probably the best one. Is the free Adwcleaner you can get on CNET. Search "Adwcleaner" spelled excactly like that in Google. It will take you to a download on CNET. Run that baby and your computer will never suffer from spyware again. Does wonders to fix spyware slow-down issues. And it's free.

Which do you use?

Windows Defender isn't good at all. Most free antiviruses like that are the first thing people find work arounds for. WD won't pick up a lot of stuff.

As for me, I have Bitdefender. Throughout the years and them spamming me with insane deals I have like 10 years left on my service :ROFLMAO:

Windows Defender isn't half that bad though for the light work I do. Since it comes with Windows 10. It really has improved. I do however agree paid ones are better. I don't download much or ever mess around with torrents. I use Adwcleaner if my system gets tagged with spyware.

100% will say Windows Defender, All Windows 10 users will have Windows Defender built into there operation system anyway. Does the job and does basic and that's scanning and detecting on what it thinks it's bad. But doesn't always keep you safe. Free in most cases isn't always going g to keep you safe.

With my £500 gaming Asus router it as a builtin firewall and security :) even logs it all with VPN setup. even that I do not have a VPN subscription.

I was using Avast for many years but a couple months ago there was a Windows Update that forced changes to my settings and so my computer starting running both the Windows antivirus and Avast at the same time. That caused havoc on my system so that it was pretty much crawling!!! I gave up and just uninstalled Avast since Windows became a bully.

The same thing happened to me with Zone Alarm. Was using their free firewall but both WD and that were working simultaneously. Caused my computer to slow down. After uninstalling Zone Alarm things resumed to be much faster.

I'm currently just sporting Windows Defender. As 1@TopSilver has said, it's much better than it used to be..

I really ought to install MalwareBytes (free) again though.. I just haven't got around to it yet! :p

We use ESET at work.. Awful, awful software - especially for a network of about 750 machines.

I'm now using Malwarebytes free version and Adwcleaner. I also picked up a nice program called RKill which works simultaneously with Malwarebytes or any other Antivirus. If you get so bad into a virus that it will not let you start up your protection and run your Antivirus, it basically works with your Antivirus and allows it to function again. It basically kills the virus directly but any sub-virus dependencies or what not is taken care of by your Antivirus. Got them right on my desktop had something ever go wrong. I recently downloaded Awcleaner again and I want to say how much it sped up my computer is quite remarkable.

That means you are using 3 anti-virus simultaneously?
My laptop was behaving abnormally just because of one anti-virus and that was Avast. It was pathetically slow in response, clicking one webpage would take ages to open it. Later when I uninstalled it, my problem got resolved. I don't know how your PC is handling three of them. :D

Adwcleaner does wonders on a slow computer. I was introduced to it by AzzidReign of se7ensins. Incredible speed increase. I deleted Malwarebytes just recently as that particular one isn't as good as I had hoped.

I use CCleaner. It's free but does the job. Highly recommend. Quick and easy install and very trustworthy.

No problem 1@Razor1911 I knew it would. It sped up several computers for me already. The fact that it's also free pays off a great deal as well.

Yeah, it's the same for me. I only rely on Windows built-in antivirus software, and I've done that for several years now without any problems.

Windows Defender isn't good at all.
It's actually really really, good. It's the fastest antivirus protection you can have on a Windows computer. It's optimized to run on Windows computers without slowing down your system, and it gives everyone a proper virus protection without any hassle from the very moment you start up your new PC. I can't recommend it enough!
Sure, I don't think it offer any meaningful protection against these new ransomware attacks. But is there any software that does that? I store everything important in the cloud anyways so I could just wipe my computer clean and re-install everything.

And really, no anti-virus software or tool can replace basic common sense. ;)

I use CCleaner.
I don't use any programs like that anymore as http://they do more harm than good to your PC.

I use bit defender with malwarebytes, never have an issue. And Super Anti Spysweeper for anything left behind.

It's cool to use windows defender, but last I checked it doesn't tackle malware well.

Avats software is the best for removing all the malware on your PC/laptop. I my self use this and recommend most of my friend to use it

RE: What Antivirus/Spyware Remover Do You Use?

I have Avast installed for most general uses. I occasionally take the free trials to the premium version, for the additional settings. Been meaning to go after the severely discounted offers they have been offering me, due to how long I have been with them, but haven't yet. If I feel like Avast doesn't get everything, I will temporarily download other programs to get stuff that might be overlooked by Avast.

I have been making use of Avast Anti-virus for a long time now but recently I decided to make use of Norton Anti Virus and it serves me very well too.

RE: What Antivirus/Spyware Remover Do You Use?

Malwarebytes hasn't let me down through all of these years.

I've had bad experiences with MacAfee. From what I can remember, it was a pain to uninstall from my computer.

I've only used free Avast and I can't remember it being all that great.

I can't remember if it's Norton but I heard something about it installing unwanted software for cryptocurrency on your machine? Don't quote me on that tho.
