True Purpose of the Green Party?

Does anyone have an idea what it is. What's true purpose of the green party?

It seems the government has it there as a backup just in case possibly 100 or more years from now no one trusted politicians. What's your idea of what the real reason behind it is. Do you think there's any hidden agenda to why it's there?

I like the idea of what it is supposed to represent, that being down to the core of the constitution, representing small government and all the other items that they say they represent. I just do not think it will be adequately organized for awhile, since career politicians like to make public statements that somehow the newer and smaller parties are somehow against them, when the whole idea is to represent a group of people, based on similar ideals.
