There's the Twitter blog post regarding it. Apparently the only thing that was said is he wasn't going to the inauguration. The tweet at all had nothing to do with violence whatso-ever. Apparently it's because people stormed the capitol building shortly after but it's a bit plain as day obvious that the tweet was not the reason.

He first got a temporary suspension but now apparently it's permanent. Thoughts?

Yes, the ban is going to be permanent if Twitter bosses are to be believed. It categorically states that even if he ran for president or even get elected to any public post there is no way he is going to get back his account. I am not sure if the ban is justified. I personally do not believe he indulged in inciting violence which led to Capitol insurrection. Well if this rule is applied impartially, I wonder how many state leaders or politicians will have their Twitter account active. I guess there is more to it and the reason may not see the light of the day.

As a private company they can easily ban anyone and get away with it like I could on my site,

But I'm not sure if it's justified either.

Yeah 1@Fait[/uSER] your right they can. Pointless that they did but they definitely can. It's not illegal and if they want to ban anyone they have the right to.

It’s basically their site even if we don’t agree with a ban

Can't he literally go on national television any time he wants to spread a message?

He was using his platform to sow chaos and misinformation. He needed to be banned.

Yeah he has a funny way about doing things. The terms of Twitter were very vague though in regards to whether he actually broke their terms. Especially for a permanent ban in my opinion. The exact thing he said wasn't exactly sowing chaos in my opinion though he's done that before.

Hmm, twitter is now centring they'd attention banning top and high profile individuals. My country president was banned from using twitter, even making it worse for us, cos twitter also banned its subjects from making use of their social media platform.

I also heard the Haitian president died. Pretty sad. You probably don't live there but maybe near that area. They're asserting their authority is mainly what it is. A bit over-the-top in my eyes but what can we do.

The biggest thing here, is that who are those companies really representing? Who are paying them, to get certain people off their platforms? President Trump may have said plenty of provocative things and did get people angry, but when you ban him, and not communist and terrorism leaders from using the platform, you got to wonder what is going on there in their corporate offices.

I don't think they should ban even Putin's page.  Let people speak.  Why are people afraid of people speaking?   They just want to punish dissidents by shutting them up.  Well, this is why Trump wanted to create a new social network - which so far, isn't making much progress.
