How hot you guys let your PC get? On average I'm sitting at around 40c but if i get past 50 (only happened once) i shut it down. If you have no idea how to check u suggest downloading MSIafterburner its a app that basically lets you know how your computer is doing stats wise. 1@Andox88[/uSER] mine was getting hot too recently. Some of these Toshibas I don't even think come with a fan inside them. Not sure if mine does as I don't really ever hear much noise out of it but at least my computer is built to last. Toshibas seem to last a long time though.

I dont know much about laptops since ive always used a tower. i had a laptop for like a year but didnt like it

Well Andox, normally mine sits right around 35c, considering that the fan does not even run, so it is just passive cooling. CPU sits at a lazy 30c. For load temperatures, I don't get anywhere past 65c, and CPU does not get past 55c. Even considering overclocking done to my 6600k (4.0 ghz), it is still quite cool. The most ive ever seen my system spike at is 80c for the gpu, and 75c for the cpu, but this was when I stress tested it under a worse case situation with all of my case fans at half. I am still happy at just how much heat the case fans can remove, as my system under regular load just consumes a hair over 550w. Considering overclocking, and you are looking at close to 700w. This is what you get if you think that last generation hardware is a good idea. You might get the better performance, but you might pay in terms of heat output and raw power consumption. I think there is a product to counter the heat problem. Here it is:

It is an exaust fan that helps the stock cooler to pull more air through the actual heatsink, therefore resulting in lower temps.

There are cheaper options, but it is entirely up to you for that. This is by far the one that has the most reviews.

If the heat gets too bad I will check it out. I think my laptop version has a fan, I am not entirely sure but the bottom is what gets hot sometimes. It's at random times but never so hot it would mess up my computer. Or at least I hope not. I appreciate you finding that if I ever did need it :D

My laptop is usually 23C on idle and 52C while gaming, 30C while doing light work loads and 40-45C when dealing with heavier loads.

But it depends really on what im doing.

Your gpu's heat is just fine. If your getting past 80 especially under a nice gaming load and your not overclocked then your graphics card is in need of an RMA maybe or some tweaking if you know what your doing with the cards hardware.

I don't monitor heat on my laptop.. Honestly, it's like 7 years old so if the worst happened it's no major loss.

I've upgraded it almost as far as I can to avoid having to buy a new system. 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD.. I do my gaming on consoles, so it's fine for what I use it for.

I don't see how you could make a laptop last 7 years. I have made one of my Toshibas last 5 years and that was the most I've ever been able to make it last. Seemingly Tohisbas last the longest out of any other brand I've used. I'm going on my 2nd year currently with the one I have. Hoping it will last a good 3 more at least. What brand do you use?

This is a HP Pavilion. I guess I must be lucky, since it's the only laptop I've owned. Prior to that I've had desktops..

It's not without it's flaws.. It's burnt out 2 internal DVD drives, and I'm having issues getting it to burn DVDs via an external drive.

They're flaws I can certainly live with though.

Nice I just wanted to comment that it was very interesting to hear that. If it was a DELL I highly doubt you'd be saying that. I've had an HP before. It lasted longer than any DELL I've had which those didn't last but a single year

I use CORE Temp to evaluate and usual temp is around 40c when gaming/watching movies.

I think it could be better by adding an extra fan (i only have the standard 212 evo CM fan).

Do you think that'll help?

Usually if it has a built in fan the majority of the time there's nothing to worry about. It's just some of these computers that overheat don't even have fans and that's when you might get a bit worried.

Would you mind explaining about what Intel told you about it? and what kind of architecture is that?
