Some people prefer to lease as it's an affordable way to drive a new(er) car.. Others prefer to purchase as they either own the car outright, or there are no additional fees to pay at the end of a purchase agreement.

Which camp are you in?

I'd initially purchased through finance via a purchase agreement, but decided to pay it off early in full. I now own the car outright, and the only outgoings are fuel, tax, insurance, and yearly maintenance.. (y)

I'd say that if you're in the logistic business it's the best idea to renew your fleet without investing too much money at once, if it's just for you then.. just finance it.

RE: Leasing vs. Purchasing?

Since it was my first car, I went ahead and bought the car outright as it made way more sense financially especially as it's cheaper to insure a cheaper, used car for a first-time driver.

I have always bought but due to the instant depreciation it does make sense to consider leasing cars. The idea of basically driving a new car every 3-5 years is quite appealing.

I would suggest people to buy a car outright, with paying all money at once. Though, I personally bought the car in lease, and now I have to pay EMI every month for that.

The duration of the lease is more than 3 years, and it's my third year running. it's really painful to see my payslip getting deducted for such huge EMIs. From my experience, I suggest people not to lease and go for an outright transaction.

RE: Leasing vs. Purchasing?

To Lease or purchase is a tough decision to make. I had planned to purchase an expensive car but was advised against it by a financial expert friend. He warned me I will be shelling out more monthly than if I lease it out. Anyway I followed his advice and have saved few bucks at the same time driving my dream car. So I believe leasing is a good option if you are not particular on owning the asset.

I like to own assets, despite people term Car as a liability. I still see it as an asset.

It's physical and the felling we get when we drive the car we Own is priceless"

It gives us an emotional boost which leasing can never give.

For personal use, I always recommend purchasing the Car and use it and maintain it with care and it will run good for years to come.

Depends on your need, if you beat it and need a new one often, leasing isn't a bad option but for most you want to be buying it, cheaper in the long run.

When you lease a car, you pay a lower monthly payment, but you have to give it back after 2 or 3 years, depending on the length of the lease, I believe

Yup. The ownership remains with the person, not with you. So even if you lease car, you will only get a no objection certificate, but the ownership will be with the seller.

Their is no one who would go for leasing of cars when the money is there to purchase it outrightly and enjoy the benefits long time.

I've never liked leasing a car, plus you wont be the owner of the car so if there is money I suggest that you purchase it.

I have not leased yet.....just purchased it outright.  Yes I have had to settle for cheaper model though.
