Is it necessary for me to purchase a water cooler?

I have a stock cooler on my i7 6700. I'm not sure why, but when I play video games, temperature rises. They are between 70 and 84 degrees Celsius. Is it necessary for me to purchase a water cooler?

You do not necessarily need a water cooler. There are plenty of excellent air coolers at a good price mark. Also, do you factor the airflow of your case? And have you recently replaced the thermal paste? If your PC is full with dust, I would recommend cleaning it, replacing the thermal paste if you have not recently, and try running some tests again.

Ah thermal paste. How lovely. That reminds me of some of the best PC builds I've ever seen in my life. I have seen so many good PCs in my life time but haven't owned one that was custom made or amazing since I was only a child.

Building a custom PC is really easy! It is like building LEGO, even if you do not understand anything, you can figure it out by looking at the manuals. There are also plenty of YouTube videos on how to build a PC. If you put something at the wrong place, you should not worry, just start over. Custom builds provide so much more value for your money.
