It's been years since I stopped buying anything from HP. It seems they sell poor products and make money off the spare parts. They seem to have a lot of heating and lag issues even on their premium laptops. I just can't stand the HP laptops these days.

Whats your experience with the HP laptops?

RE: HP Laptops

I recently bought one after my current laptop broke. That's my current device I'm on now and the only computer I have. For many years I bought Toshiba laptops and I will say that they outlast just about any other brand and usually last the longest. Though I found a fairly decent deal for around $500. I am a bit frustrated though that even though it said 8 gb of ram, there's actually only 5.9 some gb of ram available to the device. They store an extra 2 gb or so for video playing. I may have to look into how you can get the full amount. I thought it was a bit deceiving. I think they do this on a lot of their laptops.

Gotta say i agree on 80% of this but there's something to be told, laptops weren't made for heavy duty work, they were not made for gaming, rendering or virtualizing no matter how PRO GAMER they try to say that those computers are, heat is something that nobody can really stop, it makes sense that a separated gpu will help on cpu temps but at the end of the day the poor air flow from inside will melt sensible parts and the computer will be useless.

If you use it for browsing the web, chatting or office related software then it's fine. Think about the utility before getting one. Maybe investing on a desktop computer is better.

RE: HP Laptops

I've been using a HP Pavilion (17-e105sa) for the last 8 or 9 years.. It's been pretty reliable, although it's gone through x2 DVD drives - possibly due to heat. The battery is also pretty useless now, but given its age it's somewhat expected. The only upgrades I've done are upgrading the RAM and installing an SSD.

I'm probably overdue an upgrade, and had actually purchased a new desktop in the last Black Friday sales, although it seems to have gone missing between being dispatched from Lenovo and being collected from DHL. I wasn't really getting anywhere with either company, so for the first time ever have actioned a chargeback through my bank.

RE: HP Laptops

I haven't used HP in years. I've gone through 3 MSI laptops though and I know I won't ever touch them again either. I currently have an Alienware 17 R5 that i'm happy with and the thermals to performance are pretty good.

RE: HP Laptops

Honestly you can hate on them, but outside of bloatware, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer all make the same PC. Maybe a slight difference in the shell, but they all have problems.

RE: HP Laptops

I've never had problems with HP. I've owned a few of their laptops, and they've all seemed pretty decent. I would definitely consider buying an HP laptop in the future.

Hp is okay but their budget laptops are crap. I love the omen and pavilion series I have an omen i7 8th gen H-processor and the thing runs pretty good for me.

I wouldn't say their budget laptops are necessarily crap but it could be a lot better. My device sometimes freezes up on browsers and the display isn't as good as some 1600 displays I've had. I really want the 1920 x 1080 display but never was able to afford it. I have an Athlon Gold processor HP laptop, 4 cores and what was supposed to be 8 GB ram with around 2.1 dedicated to the operating system. It's not terrible but I now prefer at least an Intel Core i5+. That's what I'll get next time. This time I sacrificed speed for the screen size.

RE: HP Laptops

I have an HP Envy x360 laptop which I am quite happy with. Like some users have said above, there are some slight issues with them that aren't great. For example, there was a huge issue with the touchpad that just wouldn't work from time to time. Had to send it to them to get it resolved which was annoying. It has a huge heating problem as well which is again, very annoying!

I have an HP Omen i7-9750H gaming laptop. Seems to work great. Runs IUnity gaming engine with less than 2GB ram, and games like Sims 4 etc. run without lag.

RE: HP Laptops

A large majority of the computers we have gotten over the years from HP, usually had issues that would creep into it without realizing it. We've learned over the years that if we want something that works generally better, the default choice is Dell. If we want something that works great, then there are other great choices out there that handles the hardware better than HP and Dell, by miles.

RE: HP Laptops

Everyone I know have had their HP laptop turn into a pile of garbage sooner than I expected it to be, so I try to stay away from HP laptops. I'd rather get a Dell if I had to get a laptop.

I thought that I was the only person having issues with using HP laptop. Now, I have known better. I'm dumping mine soon for Dell.

My HP laptop isn't giving me any issues at the moment.

But if other users are complaining about it, I might stop buying it next time.
