How long will youtube last?

Youtube is a platform that is slowly getting worse and worse by day. The Adpocalypse has created crisis-like consequences for some youtubers and inspired a lack of motivation for even more. The content is even going out the window. We still have people constantly exploiting the algorithms. This has stunted the whole system. So how long do you think youtube will last?

RE: How long will youtube last?

1@Napoleon_The_Comedian[/uSER] YouTube probably isn't going anywhere. What personally bothers me is the fact that in reality YouTube likes to crush small time channels. It's the same with google adsense except the exact opposite. Big time adsense users get their funds depleted on a regular basis, while small time YouTubers get shut down for different small reasons. It's quite sad.

I think it might change in the future years, and maybe most "creators" shall fade away because they won't make money out of it but i think if that happens, all artists shall take their copyrighted material from it and i think that's it, but when will that happen? who knows.

Where will it be going? YouTube is the future. It continues to grow. It's the only platform in it's niche that is very very successful. It literally has EVERYTHING on there, I use it to listen to music, watch guides, tutorials, listen to news. It's a multi purpose platform! Love it.

I don't think it can go away, unless the owners pull the plug on it without care. As far as I can tell, there really isn't another video sharing site that can take Youtube's place, much less do better than them.

Also, when it was bought by Google, it was reassured as the main multimedia source in the world. Only a deep change in the way we use the internet could take Youtube down.

YouTube continues to grow, but who knows the future. Something crazy like 500 videos are uploaded to the platform every minute that passes by. I don't know how Google deals with web hosting storage.

There must be millions of yottabytes worth of content on the site.

I can't see Youtube going anywhere.

There isn't a better competitor yet. I'd rather get off the Internet than be forced to use Dailymotion. I can't remember if I've ever seen a Vimeo video in my life. I'm surprised they're even a thing.

RE: How long will youtube last?

This is the right answer. YouTube's never going to die, it's just going to lose its quality content and go back to being the dump that people just throw their crap cat videos on, and anything worth watching will be on some platform that does monetization better. Just think that The increased usage of ads and decreased presence of quality content will slowly drive users away from youtube. Eventually, other companies with the resources will create or improve their already existing video hosting site that either A) treats its content creators better or B) Doesn't assault its users with ads.

RE: How long will youtube last?

FOREVER!

Youtube has everything in it from cooking, travel, tutorial, and many more. The evolution of Youtube has surprised me for the past 3-5 years. Especially in this Pandemic, most of the celebrities depended on Youtube for Income. But it has to be noted that they might bring new rules and regulations for content creators. The latest is the monetization of YT Shorts and no more monetizing kids videos.

Youtube isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s going to last for along time. Probably another 10-15 years or longer.

This thread was posted in 2018 and it is amazing to see how far YouTube has come over the years. I feel YouTube is very much here to stay and we will only see improvements from now.

YouTube is never going to die out. You get 10 new content creators for every 1 person who quits making content. Not only that but I know a lot of people YouTube is all they watch. I don't get it, but they like it, and I am sure that there are a lot more people out there like them.

I don't think Youtube is going to fall off it's owned by Google.
It’s grown tremendously since Google took it over. They’ve also made it a lot more profitable as well. Google bought youtube for $1.65 billion 15 years ago and youtube made google 20 billion in 2020 alone.

It’s crazy how much time has passed since google bought youtube.

Tiktok once gave a serious threat to youtube. Then youtube added short video feature and offered better rewards on short videos, thus maintaining its user base as well as attracting new users.
