I wonder how many of you guys are into making game mods? If you do, what game?

RE: Game Modding

I'm not too much into them myself but back in the day on original xbox I was a big time modder. To be honest the only game I modded was Halo 2 but I modded the hell out of it. There was this program called Dothalo almost everyone was using. I soft modded it with Unleash X. In order to do that you need either Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Mech Assault, or one other game I forgot. I used Splinter Cell. I remember needing a mod chip in order to mod games on the disc but Downloadable Content was easy to mod. We would simply mod the DLC and go into a playlist. I got my Halo 2 rank up to a Solar Eclipse from boosting but then stopped. Modding is not the same anymore. You get banned to easily. Especially nowadays people that use JTAG and RGH. They get banned. Still a member on se7ensins since february 2007 though. Even though I don't post anymore I have almost 4,000 posts.

RE: Game Modding

I used to mod with a friend of mine GTA San Andreas' cars, even though isn't big of a deal, that's all i did.

Nice. I used to spend hours making in game skins, saber mods, npcs and other crap in Jedi Knights 3: Jedi Academy. Modding in the quake engine was a blast.

Cool! as for what i wrote, there is a huge community of people that bring their favorites to life. Also i am aware that there are games of bus driving simulators and they also mod these in order to "drive" their fav trucks. It's quite insane.

That's really cool! People can be really creative and I love it!

Making game modifications sounds really interesting & fun. But, unfortunately, I lack the knowledge and coding skills to even though where to start. Playing games with mods is fun, even if they're not your own!

RE: Game Modding

As a console gamer, the modding scene is extremely limited - particularly with modern games consoles as it could potentially result in a ban from their online services. I've played a few Genesis ROM hacks, largely consisting of Sonic the Hedgehog variations (http://here) - I've also played a few custom PSX translations for games released only in Japan (http://here).

I haven't done any mods myself though.
