Forum Software

A successful online community cannot be run without the right forum software. I'm using phpBB currently but thinking about exploring other softwares like SMF or Xenforo which gives a more modern look. Which forum software( both paid and free) would you recommend, and why?

I’d recommend xenforo or discourse. Xenforo is great for forum owners and provides everything that you need out of the box.

Actually you can run social media community without using a forum software. But if you want a self hosted forum, you sure need to use forum software. I think for open source, SMF is great. For paid one, XF is good.
