RE: Anyone use Zoom?

There's been a lot of scams I heard with this software. One of them I heard on the news where they tell you that you tested positive for the Corona Virus even though you wouldn't of actually had it. They then give you a link and steal your information.

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

But isn’t it Chinese? And spying on you!?

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

We use Zoom for work and we managed to get a Chromebook and two iPads because we use Zoom so much. It's coming in handy with doctors offices going teleconference now because of the pandemic going around. Love Zoom! Easier than Skype and isn't the worst in hogging your internet.

Yes a lot of people are using it for work now. It's become very popular among office employees and so-forth. I personally haven't checked it out but you learn about something new every day I guess you could say. Maybe kind of similar to you possibly getting into discord now. Not sure if you were first introduced to it by me or just decided not to use it. Either way glad you've got it now.

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

I use it for conference with people from USA so i don't think it's scam.

And i haven't head anything about corona positive, also web selling information is nothing new sadly :(

I never said the software itself was a scam. Just something I heard on the news that has happened before. Would be kind of crazy if the person you were talking to suddenly started telling you things that they weren't actually saying. Which is part of the scam I failed to mention. The people you are in a conference with would say and do things when it wasn't actually really them at all.

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

We use it here to keep in touch with family members. My husband's family is doing weekly Zoom get togethers to help feel connected during the shut down and the first time I joined a meeting it was just complete chaos. I think having their children in the meetings, even though they're adorable, contributed to everyone trying to give attention to the kids and their antics instead of talking to one another. So I left with a bad headache.

The second meeting was a lot better because there were no kids around and we could finally actually "catch up" and then start in on the family teasing and joking. It was a successful meeting.

There are some security risks with the software but that's because the company never expected it to take off like this. There will be a new version coming out soon so I feel better about that.

Also, I think if the host does something on his/her end with not allowing shared screens that it helps?

I'm sure there's probably some type of setting where you can keep other users from accessing the session. What the issue was the was happening is users would use it for a doctors appointment, which a lot of people are doing now because of the stay at home order. They would try to get a prescription and someone would tell them they had Covid-19 and suggest that they pay them money and so forth. Most of this had to do with doctors screen sessions. I'm sure they have some type of private feature to keep the session closed.

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

I've only recently heard of Zoom, and I've only heard mixed reviews about it. A couple of my coworkers use it for their day jobs tutoring kids right now, but I keep hearing about hacking and scams related to it, so I'm honestly worried for them. >w< We just use Discord at my own work.

RE: Anyone use Zoom?

I've only heard of this recently to be honest. But I can see how it can come in handy.

I have used Zoom and it is one of the best video conferencing apps. It is free as long as your video conference is less than 40 minutes and you have less than 100 participants.

I wasn't aware of Zoom until about the time this thread was originally made. It's fascinating how prevalent it has become over the past few years.

I haven't used it much lately, but a couple of years ago I basically used it all the time.

I’d say that Zoom is a tool that I’ve found incredibly useful for both professional and personal communication. I appreciate the platform’s features that allow for video conferencing, webinars, and collaboration on projects. It’s a versatile app that helps me stay connected with colleagues, friends, and the gaming community. :)
