American revolution is also something that interests me.
Recently, I came across a book that described the various effects of American revolution including how in the post revolution era, the cotton industry moved from easter coast to the south eastern region amd then to the southern region till the present.
Another one was educating the world about fundamental rights and inagurating a new era in polity by upholding and helping spread democracy.
Oh the American Revolution is one hell of a story. How George Washington managed to keep his army together is imressive. Did we ever actually re pay France for helping us out though? :ROFLMAO:
I have read a lot of books on War of Independence and watched a lot of movies based on American revolution. One of the most important contributions of American revolution to the world is a written constitution and the freedom of speech.
The American Revolution started in 1775 when the citizens' patience with the British crown had run out. The spark was a skirmish between British troops and American colonists in Massachusetts. The war ended in 1783, with the Treaty of Paris. The treaty recognized America as a free, sovereign nation and ended the war. The U.S. Constitution, which established the federal government, was adopted in 1789.
I can't stand how some southerners try to compare the Civil War to the Revolutionary one. The stain of slavery was simply too smacked on the South to make the comparison. I mean, even Jeff Davis explicitly stated the government backed racism.
