I run a Christian forum and from time to time we get visitors who ask us questions about our beliefs. Is there something about Christianity that absolutely confuses you? Not everything about Christianity can be explained so it makes sense that there can be questions :)

RE: What confuses you about Christianity?

There isn't much I get confused about because of my connection with God. He seems to answer those questions. More-or less because I lean on him for answers.

Guess my only one would be following the bible despite it long since being written by man not god.

Christians believe that the Bible is God-Breathed meaning that even though it was written physically by man that the Holy Spirit was the influence of what was written.

To be honest, I also believe that. Kind of like how some people speak in tongues. God inspired them with his divine light to write it. It was originally written in Hebrew and later translated to english.

The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and the New Testament in Koine Greek. I forget which century, but the Old Testament at some point was translated into Greek. I would love to learn those languages but I know that my pastor was trained in both at seminary.

The Bible says the earth is the center of the universe. And it is believed that Bible in the word of God. How can you be a Christian and a follower of science at the same time? This is the most confusing thing about Christianity.

The way I think about it is God knows every possible result of every possible choice, but you can still choose. Like the author of a "choose your own adventure" novel or a game designer or something. I don't have theological backing for that, but it makes sense to me. But Christians who condemn gays are not doing what God calls us to do, which is to love everyone. It’s sad that people who claim to love God do things like that, but unfortunately that happens.

As for death penalty, nowhere does the Bible say humans can not take life. God calls us to be merciful, but that doesn’t mean people can go unpunished when they commit a crime. I am personally against the death penalty, but hat doesn’t mean all Christians have to be.

[/QUOTE]I think speaking in tongues, as done nowadays, is wrong - because there are no interpreters.   There is no point to the tongues.  In that case, I see it as heretical.

Nothing because the more we try to understand how certain supernatural thing how the more confused we get.

But with the help of the Grand Creator you can actually get an incite into the things of the spirit.

I'm an atheist who can respect your need to worship your invisible God. But ever wonder if he/she/it only exists in your imagination?

Why do we have different denominations? I just don't understand the need for that and on top of it, they end up attacking one another on a weekly basis which is tiring. If we say we are one body in Christ, we should behave as such.

Another thing that confuses me is how the kids of Adam and Eve ended up marrying each other. Don't you find gross to read siblings getting married and having kids from incestuous relationship?
