Revers Greenhouse Effect

In a few decades our climate may just go completely mental. Temperatures might rise rapidly, melting the ice caps, turning our planet’s climate into something comparable to that of Venus’. We all know about global warming; for the past 10 years you haven’t been able to open a newspaper without reading something about it. But The Runaway Greenhouse Effect is basically what will happen if we reach that point of no return. As temperatures rise water evaporates, which makes the atmosphere thicker, which in turn traps in more heat, which causes more water to evaporate – a chain reaction. It will really become similar to Venus’ atmosphere, because that is exactly what is happening there. The atmosphere is so thick that solar heat never escapes so it just keeps getting hotter. And there is nothing to stop it. Just like there will be nothing stop it here on Earth. But what do you guys think? I mean the earth does just go through natural climate changes it has for millions of years now, sure humans have had a huge impact but the earth is the earth and the earth does what the earth want lmao :unsure:

RE: Revers Greenhouse Effect

I haven't looked much into this specific terminology but I will say one thing and that's global warming is having a devastating effect on our atmosphere. Strictly speaking it melts the polar ice caps more and more every time until the point where so much of it melts that it raises the sea level and coastlines are affected. If it goes on long enough there could be more tsunamis and earthquakes. It could have drastic effects on the weather.

They say every so often on the planet we go through a stage where the planet acts similar to the ice age but each time it could be different. The earth could have a catastrophic weather change between these periods. For example the ice age it says on google was 2.58-.012 million years ago. So if enough time goes by the earth will get wiped out by something different, there's just no telling what it will be this time. Nostradamus predicted it would get destroyed by fire this time. I've always wondered what if a huge volcano such as the one at Yellowstone National Park exploded. If that happened thick clouds of ash would cover the skies over most of the earth and this would cause the climate to get very cold. Plants would die and so forth. Interesting topic

Personally I think that the world ending to climate change will not be because of global warming but instead be devastated by Yellowstone erupting and casting a dark cloud over most of the planet for years to come. Even if it didn't reach the other side of the planet North America would be doomed. The U.S economy pretty much decided what other countries economics look like. So no matter what it would through the world into chaos.

1@Andox88[/uSER] it's possible but pretty unlikely it would happen in our lifetime. Though you never know anything is possible. I was giving an example but who knows it might happen. There was something called the dust bowl that happened before our lifetime where dust clouds covered much of United States. Was always wondering if something like that would happen again. But if yellow stone did explode that's exactly what would happen.

RE: Revers Greenhouse Effect

It is actually very possible for yellow stone to blow in our life times. starting 8 years ago yellow stone is on schedule to erupt at any point. i dont know the exact numbers but think of it as birthdays. Yellow stones super volcano has birthdays and on its birthdays it blows. but starting 8 years ago its birthday was overdue so within say the next 60-70ish years its a high possibility.

That's information I was not aware of. Thank you for sharing. I was only giving an example but that's interesting to know because when you put it like that it really is a possibility. Hopefully that doesn't happen. Because you are right the effects would be devastating.
