How often do you get a new phone?

How often do you get a new phone? Are you on a plan that allows you to upgrade cheaply?

I'm the type of person who doesn't get a new phone often and that's because I make do with what I have until I can't deal with any bad issues anymore. My last phone had a battery problem where it would die by noon but this newer phone lasts more than a day so I'm happy with it.

It's not very often I get a new phone actually. Had the iPhone 5 (as outdated as that is) for the longest time, up until about 10 months ago. I now have the iPhone 11 through a gift a family member gave me. It's much nicer and I prefer having it but wouldn't pay what it cost if I had bought it myself. It has great battery life though.

Roughly 3-4 years, they cost too much to replace often, not seeing any damage coming.

Normally every 3-4 years, too expensive to get a new one more often

I upgrade almost every year through my plan but as of this year I want to not upgrade for a long time. That way I can buy the phone outright without needing to be on a plan where I'm spending $100+/M. But also because I'm waiting for no notch. So it will take a long time to save for a phone. I haven't started yet.

Not often enough for me, The phone that I own now is the second phone that I have owned in the last ten years and in the last three months have been looking for a new phone that's not overpriced. But waiting on my phone provider to fix a problem before I move on :)

I say every five years is good enough if you own your own phone and look after it, can last longer.

I would say every 3-4 years also.

I tend to have the worst luck with phones, especially since I've started having smartphones. Either through faults that develop through no apparent reason, accidental damage (usually from a drop), or even issues with the contracts themselves.. :cautious:

I've bought my most recent one outright, so I could technically change it whenever I want - but I've only had it a few months, so hopefully I can make it last and save myself a bit of money in the long run.

I do get a phone once in 3 to 4 years. My usage is very limited so i don't need latest apps or games to run in my phone. Just call and few necessary apps alone fine. iPhone rocks!

I usually take a contract for a phone because it's just easier to combine the price of the handset and the mobile plan. But last time out I just went and bought my Galaxy S20 outright because I managed to get a really good deal for it - almost £300+ off

Being a PUBG game lover, I buy a new phone everytime the specification gets outdated. Recently I had bought Redmi Note 9 Pro. Specifications are really important for me as well as my budget. This smartphone had cost me around $250.

I don't usually usually sell my phones off frequently within short duration of time. I love using it till it gets old, then i dump it to buy another.

I believe spending on a mobile just for the sake of changing it is a cruel waste of money, especially in these times. With work from home becoming a norm, Its different thing altogether if your work or whatever you do online demands it. Each day you can see different models with new specifications tempting you to go in for latest versions. As long as your phone is behaving well and meets your requirement, I feel it is better to stay with it. If properly and carefully handled it can give you a life of at least 3 to 4 years if not more.

I use an One Plus mobile so I get android updates for many years even after the purchase.

I try to use the phone as long as I get the android update and till it functions properly.

I usually get a new phone every two years or something like that. I am currently using the P30 pro by Huawei and I will most likely use it for as long as I possibly can - or at least till Huawei builds up their own app store and HMS mature more so I can purchase one of their new phones again.

You are very specific with your criteria, normally 2 years is very less time for me if I am spending $200 for it. I would use it as long as the device could handle me. :ROFLMAO:

Maybe once every 5 years or longer since I don't sign up with any contracts. Usually if it's still in good condition and not slow, I wouldn't consider getting a replacement.

RE: How often do you get a new phone?

Depends on the wear and tear on my phone. I generally try to make it last as long as possible; but, that's not always possible and sometimes through wear and tear, the phone just doesn't work as well as it used to. I'm actually probably going to be looking into getting a new phone this year, my current one, a Note 9, isn't holding a charge and the buttons don't depress like they should.

RE: How often do you get a new phone?

Normally, I update every two years, giving my two-year-old phone to my parents and using their old phone (which is four years old) for exchange offers.

However, I presently own a OnePlus 7 Pro and have no plans to upgrade till next year. I'll probably keep running this till in-screen cameras are available and the 5G price rise is over. Maybe in the year 2022.
