RE: Hindu/Historian

I actually attended a Hindu temple years ago a few times. I have an open mind & wanted to know more about other religions as well as those who are into spirituality. I do like their 10 Disciplines & wish for any person, regardless of their belief, to uphold them as a human being.

RE: Hindu/Historian

I was born and raised in a Hindu family. Therefore, by default I am a Hindu. My parents are practicing Hindus, so I also have a strong faith in Hinduism. Hinduism is one of the oldest religions on earth. Rig Veda one of the major Hindu scriptures was composed around 5000 BCE. Hinduism is very tolerant religion. In Hinduism, you might not believe in Gods, yet you will be still treated as religious person. There are a lot of sects in Hinduism. The Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in a Hindu family.

Hindu religion is one of the oldest religion existing, which now has shrunk to just a few countries. India has the majority of Hindu population but at the same time, equal importance and respect is given to all religions there. More than religion, Hindus treat Hinduism as their culture. Famous Hindu temples built way back in earlier century still exists and it is a treat to just visit those heritage places and worship the deities.

Hinduism they belief is not just a religion, it is a way of life.  The Hindu scriptures teach  how to live our life and also the things to avoid doing in one's lifetime.  My mother's friend was from India and a staunch Hindu.  She used to share with us mythological stories which taught life lessons.
