Forum Vs. Blog: Which is easier to mange?

I have a lot of experience with blogging. I am not only running blogs that are making money for me, I even create blogs for my clients. In order to run and manage blogs, you need to be prolific writer, digital marketer and SEO consultant. Even if you are not well versed on these skills, you can hire experts. I have also tried to run forums multiple times but I never succeed. Currently, I am running a forum since 6 months, this is the longest period I have ever run a forum. Based on my experience, I can say that running and managing forums is harder than running and managing blogs.

With an integration of blogs and forums I think you can try both. Forums are very good for search engine traffic but getting them off the ground is a big challenge. Build a forum on a blog and let your users on the blog be automatically registered on your forum to start discussions.  If I had to fathom an educated guess, I would say Blogs are more profitable if you can get the traction running, versus Forums. They edge out forums in terms of profitability. Though I do not have any empirical data to back this up, being a heavy user of both, I have seen bloggers rake in more Dollars than even high-traffic forums.

I would have to say forums are more profitable just because getting content is easier. Yes if you have as much content on a blog of course by far it will be successful. It's definitely easier to manage a blog then forums. I would say that too.

I have tried to run forums on my blogs a couple of times. The forums that were integrated on my blogs did not get members outside my blogging community. Most of the users were either readers on my blog, or the writers on my blog. I tried to promote my blog posts through the forums associated with the blog, but I was not getting much traffic on my forum, therefore, it did not help.

IMO a blog is easier to manage if it's just you. You can just disable comments or set them to moderate if they're needed.

A forum will get hit by spammers and if you set them to moderate, there's a high chance of them getting bored and moving on (aka you miss out on possibly your next most active member).

It's tough to write all the content on a blog yourself when a forum gets user-posted content. But the trouble comes from reading each post and moderating them all if it's a lot of content. But if you have a good staff team to back you up, then the forum would be easier.

Whether or not a forum or blog is more difficult to handle depends on what you're doing with them.  If you're doing a lot and/or have a lot of members (Blogs have members too known as commenters.).

RE: Forum Vs. Blog: Which is easier to mange?

I prefer to get going with a forum than a blog. Within some duration of time, my experience around forums have grown, I am simply into digital marketing, I can simply attract posters/members to my forum and keep them engaging without spending much. In blogging, I will definitely spend money to hire quality writers, because I wouldn't do it myself, I don't fancy much of writing long contents. I prefer shorter contents just as we're doing with forums.  So, when I calculate the money I'll spend on the two at the initial, I'll definitely spend more to get my blog underway boosting high level traffic than in forum.
