There are two main reasons why you might not receive the appreciation you deserve at your workplace. First, it could be because you are not delivering the performance that is expected from you. If that is case, learn new skills or improve existing skills to improve your work performance. Secondly, workplace dynamics might be at play, your colleagues or superiors may not recognize or value your contributions. If this is the case, it may be time to consider moving to a different job where your efforts are more appreciated. Why stay in an environment where your hard work goes unnoticed?

That's what I did. I wasn't being appreciated for my contributions at work despite consistently delivering so I started working on my own instead of trying to find another mundane dead-end desk job.

That's the reason why I moved out of my last job and into the job I got now. Well, I left my last job for lots of reasons but I was pigeon-holed into a specific job and I couldn't get out of it. I was stuck in one spot without the ability to move up or even move laterally into another position. The only way out of the position I was in was to leave the company completely. Now they're forced to do that job themselves since I'm not there.
