RE: vBulletin I was quite heavily involved with vBulletin 3 and the v3arcade. It was quite easy to write code for, and the plugin system was quite advanced for its time! I never tried vBulletin 4 or 5 as I'd already sold my license, but I hear it was quite the mess.

RE: Nightwish Within Temptation are another great band that I only discovered fairly recently! Their latest album Resist doesn't have a single bad track on it. I've also given Hydra a play and it too is pretty decent.. :) I haven't heard of Gloryhammer either though, I will be sure to check...
