Do you know around 97 percent of people will likely never be able to afford to travel abroad? Interestingly, 70 percent of individuals’ (the world over) financial success is often tied to their passport (i.e., the country where they were born). This means that those born in wealthier countries have significant advantages, while those born in poorer nations face substantial disadvantages.

Perhaps there is something to this, because I'll never have a passport. And even though I dream of visiting Japan, I'll never be wealthy enough to leave the USA, even for only two weeks. My rent consumes 86% of my income right now. I'm eating rice and beans most nights, and only one meal a day. I just had to cough up $20 for my special pain-killing foot cream, because my stupid health insurance doesn't cover it--yet I require it just to do my job.

Also, let's look at the bigger picture. The wealthy hold no allegiance to any nation. They can get on a jet or a yacht at any time and just leave if things become to troublesome for them. Any problems, they can just through money at it, and those problems just go away. So, yeah, I can believe that a passport is essential for acquiring great amounts of wealth.
