    A man who killed his teenage son in a crash after running a stop sign in rural Canterbury has escaped conviction because he is already living a “lifelong sentence”.

    Efren Estareja Estrella, 48, appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Tuesday on a charge of careless driving causing death and two charges of careless driving causing injury.

    Was he drunk? I don't think they can charge you with that unless alcohol is involved. Just because you get in a wreck and someone gets hurt doesn't mean you can get arrested. A lot of people can't drive very well. But it is unfortunate the mans son past away.

      I think its something they can tack on the second something careless is done.
