    Anyone hates IPB?

    I hate it the most. It's the worst paid forum software in my opinion because I hate the themes for it most. They're all very ugly.

    I've not paid much attention to forums over the years, but a quick look at how IPB have changed and I quite like the default forum theme (if it's similar to their community forums). It's deffinately not the worst paid software by first glance, but it's also not the best admin wise.

        I agree it's not the best but it's not terrible either from what I've heard. I've never used it personally but I have seen and been a member on forums who did use it. Seems a bit expensive but definitely doesn't seem like it's terrible software. I just prefer Xenforo 2.

            The worst? Probably BBPress for Wordpress. Which is basically a mini-forum you can have on wordpress. That seems to be the worst of the group in my opinion.

              I wouldn't hate it, though I never did care for its themes and had to get my own made back on IPB 3. But its still a step up from most free software, though the only reason to get it these days is a nice functioning arcade system.

                Tbh, I viewed it not that long ago in-depth to see if it was good choice, I felt like it was quite lacklustre and the styling just seemed to basic, compared to Xenforo, I feel like it's beneath.

                  I hate IPB so much.

                  The problems I have faced with IPB is beyond description.

                  1. Basic and poor theme - There is no gleam to it and its block based structure and a rigid coding makes it very difficult to modify.

                  2. Support is very poor. They take a lot of time to even acknowledge our issues. This personally pissed me off so much.

                  3. Content management is efficient but content conversion is such a pain.

                    That's because IPB is a more market oriented forums now, it was good 10 years ago but now it's expensive and more limited, i don't exactly know what happened...

                      IPB is one of the best pieces of premium forum software. Ifs powerful and has many features that even Xenforo doesn't have out of the box like groups.

                        Most of unix users communities use phpbb, would you mind explaining more about it? i haven't tried it personally as an admin before.

                          Phpbb is honestly pretty crap imo. Its hideously ugly, the control panel is messy, its clunky and its pretty insecure.

                            PHPbb is worse than MyBB in my opinion. In my honest opinion if anyone went with a free solution they should definitely go for myBB. There are a lot of themes out there for myBB as well though phpBB has a good bit too.

                            Some communities have got their start with myBB before migrating to something like Xenforo 2. 1@Sir Twisted[/USER] has a site that was on myBB for years and just recently migrated to Xenforo 2. It's called Forum Authority.

                              I don't really know why anyone would talk crap on MyBB. It might not be the best free software (IMO thats PunBB) but its not BAD.
