RE: Modern forum software

I never saw this post but I will list some. Xenforo, Vbulletin, IPB, SMF, Discourse, Flarum (as posted), myBB, phpBB, Vanilla, BBPress (wordpress related). Those are the ones that come to mind. There are many other free off brands out there. myBB and phpBB are probably the best free though I'm hearing discourse is free too. Seems to be what Sublime Text forums use unless I'm wrong

Discourse is $100/month. Self host is free.

Yeah RichaIram I read your post on Code Forum. That reminds me of vBulletin Cloud Hosting. Which is a waist. But some people prefer it because it's easy maintenance and saves them a headache or 2. I can see that I guess considering so many Xenforo 2 users prefer to have someone assist them. (not me. hehe pro for life )

I would suggest XenForo, vBulletin 5, IPB and Woltlab. All them are modern designs and have capabilities to extend it to more than just a forum. You can turn it into a blog, media gallery, resources or more! Check out their websites and look into it in detail and decide which one is for you.

Thank you! I'm glad to be back! Things looks so much smoother now. Yes XenForo has always been good in my eyes. Definitely with XF2 is a huge improvement of XF1. I can't wait to see what 2.2 brings, that one is only round the corner.

If anyone can afford Discourse for $100 a month, they might as well use services such as IPB's Cloud Plan - you get more out of it with a software with more features than Discourse itself.

NodeBB is a nice modern software similar to Flarum and Discourse. I'd check it out if anyone needs a new software!

I have never heard of NodeBB that's an interesting share. I stick to Xenforo 2 only because it's something I'm used to and is one of the best platforms for customization. But thanks for sharing a new software I haven't heard of.

I think myBB is one of the most solid forums software and you can get nice themes for free too!

Yes 1@Laifot, 1@Sir Twisted uses myBB on his forum unless I'm mistaken. I joined it just yesterday. It's a really nice one too. He uses a dark theme but it looks really well put together.
