  • 3D Leg design model

Wasn't sure weather to post this in here or in the art chat but here is a 3D leg I designed, i was looking all over the place for monster like legs for a model I was making but couldn't find a .stl file anywhere so I decided to make one myself.

Wow some dinosaur legs damn. Seems quite interesting to see. What are you using it for?

Was working on a dinosaur/dragon type character to 3D print. i made the head and everything but it was late at night and wanted to see some other legs people have made for a reference but couldn't find any

Yeah I remember you showing me that picture and sharing that with me. The best of luck on your model. It won't be easy but since you have a 3d printer it will be much easier I assume.

Oh wow! Very nice, really nice work. I’m hoping to get into 3D model creation very soon.

What software did you use? And you own a 3D printer?

The program is the free version of zbrush called sculptris, I want the paid version because with sculptris you can only go up to around 1.3 million polygons and that's pretty limiting when you want to make something really cool. And yes I do own a 3d printer.

I’ve heard of zbrush! That’s amazing, but isn’t it true the more polygons the more rending time is added?

Where did you get it from? Interested in one too

Yes the more polygons the length of rendering is increased, but i have a pretty beefy computer that can handle just about anything so thats not really an issue for me. Thats cool that you've heard of zbrush its a great program! Its exactly like sculptris just a lot more complicated and thousands of options rather than the few you get with the free program. If you want to get into 3D design of more organic shapes then i would highly recommend sculptris, you can download it here http://pixologic.com/sculptris/ . if you wanna do more mechanical parts then i would go with a program like blender which is also free.

Also where did i get what? im going to guess you mean my 3d printer? If so then i got it from the main producer of it rather than the actual website or amazon because it was cheaper than both. my printer is a tevo tornado, basically a rip off of the famous CR-10 but better in many ways
