    A great addition coming to Mind Piff in the next couple days. Trophy points and awarded medals


    Hello everyone. I hope to see this taken a very long way. I have taken the liberty of purchasing an add-on just released for Xenforo 2 called [bd] Medal.

    What this allows me to do is award users who are active and participate with medals that appear in the postbit of their posts. I'm going to be looking for really good medals as I design or find some for us to use. I also intend to enable a default feature on the forums I have kept turned off for quite some time and that's trophy points.

    I plan to create different trophies you can earn by being active and doing certain things that would make you stand out. The medals/awards add-on is similar but instead it awards the user with medals. I will let you know the updates in the next day or 2, depending on how long it takes me to setup.

    Also I may possibly be adding some type of reputation bar for rating counts. That would be a great feature and wouldn't be too hard to create. I hope you like!

    The feature has now been added. We will be taking this step by step before all the awards are added but some posting tier awards and some staff awards have been added and handed out. I have also enabled trophies but those will be edited soon. I will make a forum for "award requests" before too long. Thank you~TopSilver

        Well I was thinking about starting with the posts and rating tiers but then moving up to something like tier mastery 1... 2... etc.

        Simply using that to increase the amount for the tier categories. There's going to be more than that though. I plan to get real creative with it. I'm going to setup the rest of the trophies after a while. Currently the add-on doesn't support automatically awarding the medals but at some point the creator plans to implement this and it will be added later. There will probably be some awards for coders, graphic artists, paranormal users... etc. As you can see I have created an Award Request forum that only moderators can see. From there we can decide if the user deserves the award and I'll award them.

            once we get alot more people it will be much easier to distribute rewards among people.

              We will definitely grow in the coming days. Every time we invest time into posting on the site, we attract google just a tad bit more each time.                   Just a quick update guys. I have updated some of the count requirements for ratings received award tiers. I thought they were too low but post count is where it needs to be and will not be changed.

                  Like I said I intend to add higher tiers later and also more personal awards that speak for what kind of person someone is. They should fit well within the community. I will also be updating trophies at some point but I want to let thing sit for a small amount of time. Will give updates when I do. Thank you~TopSilver

                      Nice, maybe you should incorporate a reward system as well. Medals are good in all but some people like points and to play flash games with them. i remember a forum site i was on a long time ago where you could use your points from posts and based on your medals (how many posts you have) put you in a bracket of what games you can access. Its like if someones streaming and a viewers been watching for a while they can use their points for song requests, shout outs, personalized things, duels, giveaways, spin the bottle, truth or dare (yes i have seen these). Just an example interaction with points and medals is good. It gives users more of an incentive to come back. Just saying, do not sleep on this.

                        Just an update guys. You can now manage your awards by clicking your username and avatar at the top right of the site and clicking "manage awards". It will take you directly to the award page on your profile where you can sort your awards and decide which ones appear in your post bit. The top first 3 in the sort order are the ones that appear. You can also get there by simply going to your profile page and clicking the award tab. It's the same thing but convenient to have the link in that area.

                        Aslo 1@Mr. Cream[/USER] thank you for your input but this is not an ecommerce site. We have trophy points though. Everything into the future can be discussed at a later date and anything is possible but for now trophies are enough.

                            Its not ecommerce. You have no merch or anything for sale. Its just to use the points you get to do more things. Seriously think about all the advice ive ever given you, that you initially turned down, only to actually do it way later and realizing it, but way after i brought it up. It would be beneficial greatly. I will look into these types of forum sites, hell the one i played on probably still exists. I will keep you updated. Other than what I mentioned. I see no reason to have medals, like imo whats it say "Oh look how many trophys and posts I have, Im so amazing, but what does it mean to other people? That i have nothing better to do or no life? How can I make these mean something?" Well good question, use them for activities, voting systems, flash/java games, maybe various site skins or use them to get signatures and or avatars made. There are so many options to work with Post counts do not mean anything other than activity from my experiences. Just saying. We can talk about this more and go over various options. You know I am always in the SS discord. And anyone who has joined my discord (if your looking to join here's a link https://discord.gg/5fBMQUZ just PM me here or in discord to get visitor roles [ you should also make me a channel in mindpiff for SS I asked, but you didn't get around to it]) that wants to play a game with me or watch me stream or just talk (voice chat) I am usually always on. But serious guys come up with some ideas that we here at MP can incorporate to make this place even better!

                              1@Mr. Cream[/USER] Well your not exactly giving an ideal approach to that. I don't like to restrict members to a point system just for them to be rewarded. I like rewarding members in other ways with awards and thing like that. I plan on getting a profile cover add-on for Xenforo 2 though it should be really neat. It will allow users to upload a photo to their profile page in the upper area where their name is. Not exactly sure when I'm doing this but it won't be much longer.

                              Also tonight I'm purchasing a facebook chat style add-on for the site. There will be a bar on the bottom of the page for users to chat with each other in a facebook style manner. This will be restricted to members only but should make for an interesting turn out. Let me know what you think when it's released. I should be setting it up tonight.

                              Also 1@Mr. Cream[/USER] please keep your suggestions in the feedback forum area. That's what it was meant for.
