Every citizen of a country should develop a civic sense so that he is able to gel in the society and work towards betterment of the society as a whole. To attain this, I think we should catch them young. We have history and civics as a subject in school but I think the curriculum should be tweaked in such a way that each child is able to practically analyse the effect of a particular action on the society and ways to counter any ill effects. In this way, we can instill a sense of social awareness and civic sense in children at a very young age. What are your thoughts about it?

RE: How to instill civic sense in children from a young age?
Civic sense is all about having consideration for a fellow human being while living in a civilized society such as showing consideration to the elderly, women, children, and disabled people. Parents must teach their children at an early age. They must be taught the values of cleanliness, discipline, patience, and tolerance.

The best way is to be their friend at a young age. When they get older and in their teenage years you still have to draw the line at the influence you may have but if you are best friends with your child at a very early age that sense of being a good person will grow on them and they will grow up to be good people.

RE: How to instill civic sense in children from a young age?
Civic sense should ideally begin at home. Children basically learns everything by observation. It is here that parents or anyone taking care of kids have a big role to play in childs development. True civics is taught as a subject in schools and kids are exposed to learning theoretical part of the subject. In many institutions, kids are taken to places where they are practically demonstrated what they are taught. Basically it is the parents responsibility to instill civic sense to kids starting very young age and making them responsible citizens when they grow up.
