  • Will you use WoltLab?

I see forums filled with Hate and cool things about IPB, Xenforo but very less talk about WoltLab. Will you use it for your project or will it be only Xenforo or IPB?

    RE: Will you use WoltLab?

I have a licence, well did have. In fact that I won some time ago and have the forum/blog suit however, the licence only last a year or two, can't remember. Ay, at one point I was selling it but no one was interested.

Yet people do not talk about it, it's like it's not that new.

      RE: Will you use WoltLab?

I have never used it before and probably won't since I'm used to Xenforo. Being IPB is probably the next-best thing to Xenforo, if I ever used another software it would probably be that. If it was free it may be an option for me if I decided to get a new site going and so forth before making an upgrade later.

        RE: Will you use WoltLab?

Hmm okay so the need of using Woltlab is less as Xenfor and IPB provide better value, performance and features. I am waiting to try try Woltlab again

I'm not interested in ever using it personally. I have xenforo, and thousands of dollars of paid addons including custom ones that I am working on currently that's costing me a few thousand. So I doubt I'll ever switch from Xenforo to be honest.

I didn't realise that Woltlab was still going to be honest.. I'd say that it'd be unlikely I'll use it, but never say never.

Until vBulletin was sold to Internet Brands I couldn't imagine using anything else! Now it's all about XenForo for me.. :giggle:

              RE: Will you use WoltLab?

I'm not a huge fan of IPB (not a massive hater of it though) because I mainly prefer XenForo. However, I would happily use IPB over WoltLab. I have experience of it a little while ago because I managed to win a WL license but I did not like it. There's nothing too bad about it but it seems to just not have some basics that other software has

First I'm hearing of it, looks alright from a quick glance. Though I think I'll stick to Xenforo for a long while before jumping ship.

Honestly, I think XenForo is the best premium software so for a site like GamingLatest, it's not worth jumping on to another forum software especially with the unnecessary costs of buying the software, the plugins etc.

I've used Xenforo exclusively the last, at least, 6 years. Love it!

Previously looked at it. I am not sure if I had ever joined up any site that had used it at one point. It does look like a promising software, but my biggest issue is that in order for me to properly use some of the addons, I would end up having to get a number of them translated into English, so that my general userbase doesn't get confused over the random German word or phrase.

I have never used a forum built with WoltLab, in fact I have not even heard of WoltLab until now. I did a quick research and found that the license cost 109 Euros, which is less than Xenforo, the industry standard forum software.

                          RE: Will you use WoltLab?

I barely see people talking about it or live forums I visit using it, so no.

But if they ever decide to release an official mobile app (not PWA or anything like that) with chat support and maybe even group voice chat, I might turn an eye at them.

I've tested it in the past and considered using it because I like how uncluttered it is in some of the sections of the software in comparison to other premium/paid softwares; but, I don't think I would use it at this point. Not enough pros to outweigh the cons right now.

I'm very curious about it.  Well, it seemed to have the cheapest forum software.  Also, I thought it might have the best deal.   Is that the case?
