I really get annoyed by close-minded people and this is no difference when it comes to music taste. I am talking about those people who are 'too cool' to listen to new music or hate when a band changes their sound. I don't know if this happens a lot in other genres but I really like pop-punk but its lyrics I feel are aimed more about girlfriends and youth. It is hard for a bunch of middle-aged men to sing about stuff like this and mean it, so I am not sure why people are surprised when people make different music to what they made decades ago. Plus that would just be recycled and boring!

RE: People that don't listen to or appreciate new music?
Yes my family listens to country music. While I can dig some songs, I hate country in general. I'm not against people hating genres all together but if it's within the genre you like, you should always give a listen and give it a chance. Recently I've been using spotify on my Xbox and listening to radio while playing my favorite games. Enjoyable for sure but also gives me new insight into different music out there.

Ehh.. I can agree to an extent, but I really dislike bands changing their sound when it just doesn't work - their previous work was popular for a reason.
Linkin Park is a prime example of this.. A Thousand Suns was largely experimental and for the most part I didn't really like it. They returned to their roots with Living Things which sounded awesome, but unfortunately went experimental again with their final album One More Light and it waspretty terrible IMO.[align=center]http://<img class="bbcode-attachment...="0" alt="" />[FA]far fa-handshake faa-vertical[/FA] Now partnered with Mind Piff!

RE: People that don't listen to or appreciate new music?
I'm personally not fond of popular music tbh, so i can't really tell how much it has changed through time but whatever, i'll talk about old school heavy metal and rock'n'roll.
I'm not personally in love with New Metal or "Modern" Metal like the band mentioned by 1@Nerdface[/USER] not because of the sound (but in this case it has to do with the sound), i can't imagine a "metal" band without a guitar solo.
There are bands like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden that knew how to do songs in various decades, they have been doing it since the 80s..

If you make wonderful song or album, definitely it will be appreciated. I've always cherished being a music, I dropped off from my music career, due to discouragement from parents, friends etc.

No reason to get annoyed at other people's preferences, if i may say so. Its just their taste. For me anyway, I listen to all genres of music and enjoy it too. Though my likings ate old classics, it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the new music and remixes. Music in any form is good for me.

Now we see a lot of open-minded people and audiences expect different types of music in concerts too. But yeah some people always stick to the same music and genre and don't like to come out of their comfort zone.

I mean not all new music is good and not all new music is for everyone, but I do keep an open mind and enjoy some new songs from time to time. It's usually kids who think new music is for everyone nad everyone should go out of their comfort zone, but what if you get out of it and you don't like it?
It's so not cool to force your beliefs or music on someone else, so just show it and if they don't like it that's fine
